Sub: Happy 75th Independence Day
On behalf of the NUSI Executive Committee, Office Bearers, Branch Representatives, Staff and Seafarers and my own, I wish you all a very Happy 75th Independence Day.
This year the Government of India has announced the “Azadi Ka Amrut Mohatsav” to feel proud as Indians and showcase many achievements. NUSI is also “Celebrating 125 years of Trust” this year. NUSI will continue to strive hard for the benefit of the Indian shipping fraternity in general and for all ranks of our seafarers and their families in particular. Together we will achieve more.
On the occasion of the “Azadi Ka Amrut Mohatsav”, NUSI has launched the “NUSI Seafarers Blood Donation All India Drive” and “NUSI Salaah”.
NUSI has upgraded the National Maritime Board (India) – NMB(I) agreement for the Indian flag. For the first time, the agreement with ICCSA was also concluded. NUSI has also upgraded the agreement on some of the foreign flags. Upward agreement on other foreign flags is under negotiations.
The long pending NUSI demand of provident fund, gratuity and pension for all ranks of seafarers on both Indian and foreign flag ships was agreed in principle by the Government and the framing of rules is under process. We are aware that it is taking time, but NUSI is speeding up the process.
NUSI took up seafarers issues very strongly when it met four Cabinet Ministers individually on 11th and 12th August 2021 in New Delhi. The main issues were vaccination, crew change, employment on merchant ships and cruise ships for the benefit of all ranks of seafarers and their families.
All our seafarers are advised to associate with NUSI to make it stronger.
