Increase in wages and terms / conditions on NUSI dollar agreements on foreign flagships
You are aware that due to Covid, there is an economic recession worldwide which has also affected shipping. Despite this challenge, National Union of Seafarers of India (NUSI) was able to intensely negotiate and revise the wages and terms and conditions upwards for the ratings and petty officers on the foreign flag. The revised agreement will benefit more than 50,000 seafarers.
NUSI is pleased to inform you that the NUSI dollar agreements for service on foreign flagships have been revised upwards. All ranks of ratings and petty officers will receive the following effective 1st January, 2022 till 31st December, 2023.
Salient features of
NUSI dollar agreement for ratings and petty officers employed on foreign flag ships
- Basic Wages for all ranks of seafarers have been increased.
- Wage related items like leave, overtime have also been increased.
- “Diwali” and “Ramzan Eid” holidays has been included for first time.
- Provident Fund amount has increased for all ranks.
- The Additional Voluntary Contribution will continue to be deposited.
- Gratuity amount has increased for all ranks.
- Death compensation has been increased to US Dollar 1,08,012/- for 2022 and US Dollar 1,09,632/- for 2023. Compensation for each dependent child upto 18 yrs of age has been increased to US Dollar 21,603/- for 2022 and US Dollar 21,927/- for 2023.
- Disability compensation has been increased to US Dollar 1,08,012/- for 2022 and US Dollar 1,09,632/- for 2023.
- Employment to Ratings with COC as Officers has been taken up strongly and NUSI will bear all costs of skill enhancement and other training of such ratings.

All this was possible because of your active and strong support and we will continue to improve upon these conditions in the near future. You are aware that your NUSI has always been trying to get the best working conditions for the seafarers. We wish you all a Happy & Prosperous New Year 2022.
